Distinguished guest

Ladies and gentlemen.

A very good evening to all of you.

I understand that tonight is a very special and memorable occasion where we celebrate the 42 years anniversary of Penang Goshinryu Karate. At the same time I am informed that we are having the Karate training camp which began yesterday morning.

There is a total of 250 participants. The participants not only consist of our own Penang athletes and coaches, but we also received good response from other states. Foreign athletes and coaches from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Dubai, and our very own Polis DiRaja Malaysia are taking part as well.

I am very happy to see such a big gathering of Karate exponents here tonight. I believe that this is a proof of the continuous dedication and commitment of our Penang Karate coaches and athletes in producing successful athletes who brought honours to the state at International platform such as SEA Games, Asian Games and World Championships.

In the just concluded SUKMA Perak, Penang emerged as the overall champion again in Karate. This is the 10th SUKMA series that Penang has consecutively hold on to the overall champion title.

I’m sure this amazing feat would not have been possible without the ongoing programs and promotions regularly conducted by the Karate fraternity in Penang. As mentioned by Dato Patrick, Karate is not just a Martial Art but a way of life too. I believe it has become an institution in grooming individuals to be respectful and disciplined in their daily life.

My heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Penang GoshinRyu Karate for being here for last 42 years and I’m sure it will continue to prosper and progress for many more years to come.

Thank you all the Karatekas and not forgetting the wonderful parents who had made the right decision to enrol their children to take up Karate as a sport.

Thank you.
