FOR THE FLAGGING OFF CEREMONY FOR THE RICKSHAW CHARITY RIDE “JOURNEY OF LOVE”

Good morning to all of you.
Firstly, allow me to express how delighted I am this morning to not only witness but to flag off a remarkable undertaking so meaningful and filled with love by Pastor Rev. Cheah Chee Moon.
While love itself is strangely manifested under various circumstances, challenging and unsuspecting even at times, to manage a major feat or attempt a task like what Pastor Cheah is doing from this morning onwards for the next 9 days until 7th July, is most humane and a selfless kind of love in the service of others, to say the least.
From my understanding, the lack of operating funds faced by Eden Handicap Service Centre Bhd and the KL-based Dual Blessing Bhd became a cause of concern for Pastor Cheah and as such, he decided to embark on the 400-km journey from Penang to Kuala Lumpur by pulling a rickshaw with the aim of raising a total RM1 million for the two organisations.
Both organisations – Eden as well as Dual Blessing – are noted as the umbrella under which many charitable and welfare programmes are run on a daily basis such as children’s daycare and hostel, sheltered workshop, handy-CAB transport services, recycling unit, cleaning services, craft & souvenirs, welfare services and recreation.
The recipients of these services are those with special needs and both organisations are totally dependent on public support. Furthermore, these services are provided free regardless of background, race or religion.
I wish to once again applaud this selfless endeavour by Pastor Cheah and we all pray for the success and safety of your more than 400km “Journey of Love” in raising the much-needed funds for Eden Handicap and Dual Blessing.
It is precisely this love of yours for the less privileged that touched the hearts of so many of our donors which made society a kinder and better place for everyone.
