THE TOPPING-OFF CEREMONY OF RAMAH PAVILION

SPEECH BY CHIEF MINISTER OF PENANG
AT THE TOPPING-OFF CEREMONY OF RAMAH PAVILION

Monday, 30th January 2017, 9am

First and foremost, I would like to thank M Summit Group for inviting me to officiate this event today.

Ladies and gentlemen,

The introduction of this affordable homes scheme will enable more locals, especially first-time buyers and young families from the mid- to low-income groups to own their first home at affordable price.

M Summit Group, is amongst the first private developer to build affordable housing with its impressive Ramah Pavilion project that takes up a total development cost of RM185 million.

Here, I would also like to say ‘well done’ to YB Jagdeep Singh Deo and his team for encouraging property developers to look into building more affordable homes.

Ramah Pavilion offers affordable pricing at the rate of RM247.00 to RM295.00 per sq.ft. for unit sizes ranging from 800 sq. ft. to 1,350 sq. ft., with each unit priced ranging from RM198,000 to RM398,000.

The Penang Affordable Housing scheme was officially initiated in February 2013. Described as 'the largest effort by any state government' in Malaysia's history', the Penang State Government is allocating a total sum of RM500 million.

The Penang State Government has also made its top priority, the provision of affordable housing to Penangites. In this regard, the Penang State Government, together with Penang Development Corporation (PDC) have 14 affordable housing projects in the pipeline which will see a total of 26,255 units Affordable Housing Type A (formerly known as lowcost), Type B (formerly known as low medium cost) and Type C (affordable housing in the price range of RM150,000 to RM300,000), being built for Penangites.

Once again, I would like to congratulate M Summit Group for their wonderful work done and I look forward to officiate more inspiring projects like this from you in the near future.

Thank you.
