Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,

A very good morning.

First and foremost, thank you for the invitation to officiate the launch of Dialight Penang Sdn Bhd’s new 90,000 sq ft manufacturing facility.

Befitting Penang’s reputation as the Silicon Valley of the East, Dialight joins many of the world’s largest Electric and Electronic manufacturers in making this island, their home for expansion and strengthening of roots.

The Electrical and Electronics industry is the backbone of Penang’s manufacturing sector and plays an important part in our country’s economy and industrial development. In January to September of 2019, Penang recorded RM13.3billion of approved manufacturing investment, out of which, E&E and scientific and measuring equipment industries collectively contributed 86% of the total investment.

This investment, alongside the region’s world class manufacturing capabilities, cements our place in the world’s global supply chain, and ensures goods produced in Penang are done so in a timely and efficient manner.

Having manufactured in Malaysia for almost 10 years, I am confident that Dialight’s expansion signifies not only the company’s ongoing commitment to the region, but a continuing strength in meeting the growing global demand for innovative LED solutions.

While the Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology in the lighting industry is a relatively new phenomenon in Malaysia, LED is the key technology for highly cost-effective, energy-efficient, next-generation illumination for virtually everything from appliances to major buildings retrofits to new construction.

As a global leader in sustainable LED lighting for industrial applications, Dialight’s new facility expands the company’s global production capacity and increases its capacity to serve as a timely and efficient distribution hub for the APAC and EMEA regions. I was made to understand that this state of the art manufacturing facility currently employs more than 200 employees at this site, and there is significant room for further growth.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Dialight for its continued investment in the region and congratulate the company on this magnificent facility. The Penang State Government wishes Dialight Penang Sdn Bhd every success in your business.
