Good afternoon to all of you.
We have just concluded the 4th Steering Committee meeting for the World Congress on Information Technology 2022 (WCIT2022). Among the issues that were discussed include the planning for the programme that will take place in September at SETIA SPICE, the logistics involved, funding as well as our marketing strategies.
With the opening of the Malaysian borders to international visitors on 1 April, WCIT2022 presents an opportunity for the country and especially for Penang as we are hosting its 26th edition.
I have asked the team to ensure that our preparations for the event must take that into consideration as well as the safety and SOP adherence by visitors, both the locals and foreigners.
The Penang state government together with the organisers and our partners in WCIT2022 look forward to a great event come September 13-15 this year.
Furthermore, I am also pleased to witness the signing of MoUs between WCIT2022 and the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCC) as well as the Malaysia Scouts Movement in Penang taking place today.
It is important that we engage the local community, be it business or the people, to be part of this global event. Hence, I am very happy to be welcoming the PCCC and all my fellow Scouts of Penang to be part of the WCIT2022 family!
We will also announce a key pillar of WCIT, which is the SEA Dragon Venture Platform, where the 20 top tech companies in Malaysia will be invited to pitch to the top global tech investors.
WCIT2022 will create a lasting and meaningful impact for us all.
