We are gathered here today with hearts full of respect and admiration to commemorate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It is indeed an honour to be among you and reflect on the incredible journey that has brought this great nation to where it stands today.
The achievements of our friends and partners in China are nothing short of remarkable. This momentous occasion symbolizes the aspirations and dreams of countless individuals, a testament to the resilience and perseverance of an entire nation.
Throughout the years, we have witnessed the phenomenal growth and development of China. The commitment to progress, innovation, and human development has not only transformed Chinese society but has also significantly improved the lives of its citizens. China's contributions to the global community in various fields have been truly commendable and have left an indelible mark on the world stage.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Recently, a delegation from Penang had the privilege of participating in the China International Fair for Investment and Trade and the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Xiamen-Penang Sister City relationship. During this visit from 5th to 9th September, we engaged in high-level dialogues, enriching cultural exchanges, and fruitful networking opportunities. This visit has undeniably strengthened the bonds between Penang and Xiamen, fostering mutual benefits for both regions. We extend our sincere gratitude to our gracious Chinese hosts for the warm reception and hospitality we received during this enriching visit.

The diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, dating back to 1974, have flourished over the years. China has remained Malaysia’s top trade partner for 14 consecutive years, as highlighted by Malaysia’s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently. The trade value between Malaysia and China is a staggering US$110.62 billion, underscoring China's position as an economic powerhouse on the global stage.
Apart from trade, the relations between the People’s Republic of China and Malaysia are also prominently manifested in the realms of education, tourism, and cultural exchange.
Today, as we stand in celebration alongside our esteemed friends, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes. We applaud your extraordinary achievements, your unwavering commitment to surmount challenges, and your invaluable contributions to the global community. We stand as steadfast partners, ready to continue this journey of collaboration towards a brighter and more prosperous future.
In conclusion, let us remember that the founding of a nation is not merely a historical event for its citizens but a resounding testament to the power of determination and cooperation.
