Good evening.
It was just last July that we gathered for the inauguration of the Tunisian Honorary Consul, and we now welcome the opening of Kazakhstan Honorary Consulate and celebrate the appointment of Dato’ Wira Ng Chun Hau as Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Penang.
I am proud to say that Kazakhstan is 22nd on the list of Honorary Consulates in Penang. I believe this is a strong nod towards Penang’s thriving position as home for a cosmopolitan community, as well as the confidence shown by the diplomatic corp towards what Penang has to offer in terms of promoting friendly relations across continents. I certainly hope more countries will look towards setting up consular representation in Penang in the coming years.
Dato’ Wira Ng now joins a select group of distinguished individuals who have been chosen to shoulder added responsibilities as an Honorary Consul. I am confident that Dato’ Wira Ng will serve to the best of his abilities, and that you will be instrumental in further cementing strong relations between Kazakhstan and Penang.
With the opening of the Kazakhstan Honorary Consulate Office here, I hope there will be increasing interaction and engagement between Penang, Malaysia and Kazakhstan in the fields of business, investment, and other areas of mutual interest. We look forward to more exposure for Penang in Kazakhstan.
