Good afternoon.
Today marks a significant milestone as we gather to announce the partnership between the Penang State Government, Aspen Group, and Ikano Centres (Klippa Shopping Centre) for the Aspen-Klippa Penang Bridge International Marathon 2024. This collaboration represents a profound synergy between the public and private sectors, aimed at promoting sports tourism, fostering healthy lifestyles, and showcasing the unparalleled beauty of Penang to the world.
The Penang Bridge International Marathon has a storied history, evolving into one of the region's most prestigious sporting events since its inception. Each year, it attracts participants from across the globe, drawn not only by the challenge of the race but also by the opportunity to immerse themselves in Penang's vibrant culture and breathtaking scenery.
For the 2024 edition, our goal is to raise the bar even higher, with a target of up to 30 thousand participants. This ambitious objective reflects our commitment to expanding the reach and impact of the marathon, attracting both seasoned athletes and newcomers alike to experience the thrill of this iconic event.
One of the most notable developments for this year's marathon is the decision to commence the race from Aspen Vision City in Batu Kawan which will then run through our Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge (Penang Second Bridge). As the Member of Parliament for Batu Kawan and Chief Minister of Penang, I am particularly proud of this initiative. For the first time in PBIM history, the marathon will kick off on the mainland, symbolizing our dedication to promoting inclusive growth and development across all regions of Penang. Batu Kawan's strategic location and burgeoning industries make it a distinctive setting for this prestigious event, offering participants and spectators a unique experience.
On that note, I am pleased to announce that registration for the Penang International Bridge Marathon 2024 is officially open as of today. Runners and participants can choose from three categories: the full marathon, the half marathon, and the 10-kilometer run. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or a novice runner, there's an opportunity for everyone to be part of this exhilarating event.
Looking ahead to the Aspen-Klippa Penang Bridge International Marathon 2024, I am filled with optimism that today’s partnership will not only elevate the event's stature but also leave a lasting imprint on our state's socioeconomic landscape. Together, we will craft indelible memories, foster camaraderie, and ignite the passion for sports and healthy living among our communities.
In closing, I extend my deepest gratitude to Aspen Group and Ikano Centres for their unwavering support and commitment. 槟城大桥国际马拉松赛承载着悠久的历史，自其创立以来，已成为此区域最著名的体育盛事之一。每年，这场盛会都吸引来自世界各地的专业跑者与参与者，他们不仅接受马拉松比赛带来的挑战，更有机会沉浸在槟城充满生机的文化氛围以及令人叹为观止的自然景色之中。
对于2024年的槟城大桥国际马拉松赛，作为主办方，我们立志再次精益求精，不断提升标准，并将参赛人数目标定为3万人。这一雄心勃勃的目标彰显了我们扩大马拉松影响力和影响范围的决心，旨在吸引资深运动员和新手参与者共同体验这一标志性活动的激情。
今年马拉松最引人瞩目的变化之一，便是决定从峇都交湾的Aspen Vision City出发，穿越我们令人自豪的槟城第二大桥 - 苏丹阿都哈林大桥，最终返回位于峇都交湾的终点。作为峇都交湾的国会议员以及槟州首席部长，我对此深感自豪。这是槟城大桥国际马拉松历史上的首次，马拉松将从威省起跑，象征着我们致力于推动槟城各地区的全面增长与发展。峇都交湾得天独厚的地理位置和蓬勃发展的产业，使其成为这一重要活动的独特场所，为参与者和跑者提供了独一无二的体验。
在此，我很高兴地宣布，2024年的槟城大桥国际马拉松赛现正式开放接受报名。参赛者可以根据个人喜好选择全程马拉松、半程马拉松或10公里跑三个类别。不论您是资深运动员还是新手跑者，都有机会成为这个激动人心活动的一分钟，共同书写马拉松历程的精彩篇章。
对于这一次的2024 年 Aspen Klippa 槟城大桥国际马拉松赛，我满怀信心和期待。我相信今天我们槟州政府与私人界的合作不仅将提升此活动的水准与规格，并且也将深刻影响槟州的社会经济格局。让我们携手共创难忘的回忆，培育团结合作的精神，点燃社区对体育和健康生活的热情。
