Distinguished guests,

Ladies & gentlemen,

Good evening.

I stand before you with immense joy and pride as we come together to mark the 90th Anniversary of The Convent Ex-Pupils Association (CEPA). Tonight is not just about celebrating the remarkable history of CEPA, but also an opportunity to unravel the intricate tapestry of Penang, a state that has been a beacon of cultural and historical significance in Malaysia.

The origins of CEPA in 1933 mark a point of intersection with the broader trajectory of Penang's development. As we acknowledge the association's evolution from the Convent Old Girls' Association to CEPA, we recognize a narrative that mirrors the transformative journey of our state.

In these 90 years, as CEPA has grown, so has Penang – transforming into a dynamic hub of progress, innovation, and inclusivity. We have embraced change while weaving the threads of our rich heritage into the fabric of modernity. Penang, with its diverse communities and storied past, now stands tall as a pioneer of progressive initiatives.

Aligned with the bold vision of Penang2030, our State Government is committed to fostering sustainability, inclusivity, and economic growth. It is a vision that encapsulates the aspirations of a society dedicated to innovation, sustainability, and social well-being.

In the spirit of Penang2030, our government is particularly committed to ensuring that no one is left on the margins, especially the young generation – the driving force behind Penang's future development. CEPA, deeply rooted in Penang's soil, mirrors these principles. The association's commitment to supporting its alumnae aligns seamlessly with the vision of a socially cohesive and empowered community.

CEPA's commitment to community service, such as the annual visits to orphanages during Christmas, resonates with Penang2030's emphasis on community engagement and social responsibility. It is heartening to witness an association that not only cherishes its past but actively contributes to shaping the future of our society.

To the members of CEPA, you are the torchbearers of community service and unity, vital components in the realization of the Penang2030 vision. Your dedication to mutual assistance and camaraderie significantly contributes to the social fabric of our state.

As we celebrate this significant milestone, let it not merely be a reflection on the past but a resounding call to action. May CEPA's 90th year signal the commencement of a new chapter marked by bold initiatives, meaningful collaborations, and a deeper commitment to service. The potential for positive change lies within each one of you, and together, you can amplify the impact of CEPA for many more decades to come.

In closing, let this celebration be a catalyst for continued collaboration and shared aspirations as we journey forward. May the legacy of CEPA and the vision of Penang2030 intertwine to shape a future that is both prosperous and socially conscious.

Thank you, and congratulations on your 90th anniversary.
