The Opening of Gayo Korea House
Speech by Chief Minister of Penang
At The Opening of Gayo Korea House
17 December 2017
Beach Street
I am pleased to be here at the Gayo Korea House today.
Our homegrown Made In Penang entertainment company has become a full-fledged powerhouse in megatainment known now as Malaysian Master of Megatainment!
World Golden Warriors Entertainment, the parent company of Gayo Korea House, namely Mr Hendrik, Managing Director, Mr Alan Oh, Executive Director & Mr Danny Kim has played a significant role in developing Penang as a destination of “Megatainment” and connecting Penang to the K-Pop world.
We have the facilities for international entertainment acts. The RM350 million SETIA SPICE Arena and SPICE Convention Centre has a capacity of 23,000 people, 15,000 of which that can accomodate the SPICE Arena and 8,000 pax that accommodate SPICE Convention Centre.
This year alone World Golden Warriors Entertainment has organized 3 concerts in Penang and 2 of which were K-Pop concerts staging top-notch K-Pop artists. With today's new food outlets, we can expect more Korean acts in future. We hope to see more Koreans in Penang in the coming future.
I would not be aware of the success of Megatainment and Hendrick if not for my Strategic Adviser Dato Saifuddin Nasution. Congratulations to Mr Teoh Chong Teow, the Chairman of Association of Penang Hostel and Chairman of the Penang Heritage Contractors, who has transformed this place by delivering creative interior ideas to make the Gayo Korea House stands out.
There are approximately 3000 over Koreans living here in Penang, and the positive growth of Penang has lured many expatriates from around the world to invest in Penang.
Thank you to the Korean for choosing Penang to invest.
I hereby officiate the opening of Gayo Korea House @Beach Street, Penang.
Thank you.
