Malaysia is currently in the transition to become a developed nation by harnessing creativity, innovation and technology to increase the value of our products and services. This is encapsulated in the nation’s National Industry 4.0 Policy Framework which seeks to enhance the country’s various sectors especially the ones concerning next-generation automotive, smart electronics, high-income tourism and medical tourism, automation, robotics and innovative agriculture.

The development of these sectors will help lift the country out of the middle-income trap towards a developed nation status.

So, when Asia Innovative Agency, Mei Tan and Steve Wee approached us to collaborate on INNOVATIF + PROJECT (INNOVATIF), we feel the propitious moment has arrived for such an event to be held.

I thank them for their foresightedness in selecting Penang to kickstart this INNOVATIF.

I am confident that with full concerted effort, we are all on the right track to use this platform to learn how to make full use of creativity to turn something into a profitable reality.

With INNOVATIF, PENANG is looking forward to host various brands and corporations with disruptive technology, products and services during this 3-day event.

And let’s not forget our participants from various Asian and regional countries which can spark up not only our tourism market but also lit up our entrepreneurial spirit and drive with future collaborations.

I am indeed pleased that both my EXCO members YB Yeoh Soon Hin and YB Dato’ Halim are also giving their full support in making INNOVATIF a success.

In this rapidly changing business landscape, there’s no choice for companies but to innovate to remain competitive. To remain in one’s comfort zone or to refuse accepting the new ways of conducting business in Industry 4.0, will spell doom for whatever enterprise that one involves in. This is a fact in today’s world!

In the end, whatever in life, it’s the “doing” that makes the difference and I hope all parties, be it in the government or the private sector, will “just do it” with Asia Innovative Agency, Mei Tan and Steve Wee to make INNOVATIF a successful one.
