Ladies and Gentlemen,
A very good afternoon to all of you.
It is reassuring to see that Aspen Group has always been at the forefront of setting examples for the state and even the country. In keeping with their tagline, “Redefine Living", I am pleased that their projects have always incorporated elements that will redefine the lives of others by putting the people’s needs first.
Aspen Group was the first private property developer that initiated affordable housing development in Penang back then, and now, I believe this group is the only private developer to launch a campaign encouraging Malaysians to get vaccinated to fight against Covid-19.
I was informed that all Malaysians who had completed their two vaccine doses were eligible to participate in this Vax To Win Campaign, and all they had to do was answer a set of simple questions and create a creative slogan based on the theme " Emerging Stronger for The Nation".
I must say, the incredible winning prices, which include one high-end condominium and three executive apartments, piqued my interest. These homes as well as the gift cards will undoubtedly mean a lot to the lucky winners, and I am delighted for all of them.
What struck me the most about this campaign was its objective, in which Dato' Murly stated that each person who has been vaccinated is a hero in their eyes, and that they should be praised and rewarded for their courage. I could not agree more with him, and I applaud his selfless efforts in recognising the commitment of our responsible citizens.
Ladies and gentlemen,
I must admit that, as the Chief Minister of Penang, I am proud of Penangites, where all eligible adults in Penang have completely received their two doses of vaccine. As of May 5th 2022 and according to the COVIDNOW platform by the Ministry of Health Malaysia, we are still going strong as one of the leading states in administering vaccination, having covered 78.1% of the adult population for booster shots, as well as 98.4% and 36.3%, respectively, for second dose vaccination of the adolescents (12-17) and children (5-11) populations in the state.
Nonetheless, the State Government will not let down its guards and will continue to spearhead our vaccination efforts. I hope that with initiatives not only from the State Government, but also from the private sector, such as today, and from all individuals, Penang will be the first state to complete vaccination among its populations, allowing us to welcome even more local and international visitors while safeguarding ourselves and our loved ones.
Having said that, I look forward to more visionary efforts from Aspen Group in the future that will benefit everyone around us. I wish the Group all the best in their endeavours, and I thank you for inviting me to this meaningful prize giving ceremony, which is made even more special by the Hari Raya celebration which is synonymous with sharing and caring.
With that, I wish everyone a pleasant day, and to those who are celebrating, Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir dan Batin.
