Ladies and gentlemen
A very good afternoon.
To begin with, I would like to thank everyone for your presence here today at the LovePENANG Social Media Video Challenge Award Ceremony.
On June 27th, I announced this challenge in the hopes of encouraging people, especially the younger generation, to participate and share their creativity and love of Penang in the form of short videos. Initially, it was planned to be a month-long event, but due to numerous requests, the competition period was extended until August 14th.
I am delighted to announce that, as of the closing date, a total of 192 video entries were received, garnering a combined viewership of almost 300,000 (297,883) and engagement of over 66,000, specifically, 66,383 likes, shares, and comments.
Ladies and gentlemen,
This challenge is not just a simple video competition, but more importantly, a promotion of the LovePENANG concept, bringing out the affection and love for our state and everything in it.
Penang, in addition to its amazing people, is home to many exquisite and remarkable locations, cultures, and food. And I hope that this competition inspired everyone to discover and appreciate more of the beauty within this fine state.
With a majority of young competitors, I am also delighted that this challenge not only reveals their social creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, but also provides us a glimpse into their views and aspirations. Given that today's youth are the future of our nation, I strongly believe it is crucial for the state to pay attention to their expectations.
As such, in addition to the various programmes carried out under the LovePENANG initiative such as the fun run, basketball and e-sport tournaments, as well as the social media challenge, rest assured that the State Government will continue its unwavering efforts to empower and meet the needs of our youth, while instilling the love for Penang.
Having said that, I thank all participants for creating such fine videos that showcase their abundant love for Penang, and take this opportunity to congratulate;
Third place winner (RM 3,000) - Oh Puey Ping, from Penang with over 1,950 engagements.
Second place winner (RM 5,000) - Chow Jia Jing, from Taiping, Perak with over 2,700 engagements.
First place winner (RM 8,000) - Mohammad Hazizi bin Padzil from Penang with over 6,800 engagements.
Thank you and LovePENANG!
