Ladies & gentlemen
Good evening.
I am pleased to be here at Tan Sri Konishi’s invitation to witness and be part of the official opening ceremony of Miraku.
It is said that the easiest way to win hearts and minds is through food. Given Malaysia’s beautiful diversity, especially a state like Penang which is flavoured by the many culinary influences from all over the world, it is no surprise that Japanese cuisine has become a familiar taste for our local palate. Indeed, we can catch our youngsters easily at home with food like sushi, sashimi, tempura and ramen just as we hope our Japanese friends here are used to Nasi Kandar and Asam Laksa.
Tan Sri Konishi, you have been the driving force in introducing many Japanese restaurant brands in Malaysia. I believe it is almost impossible to visit any mall here without seeing names like Sushi King, Hoshino Coffee and Doutor Coffee around the corner. On this note, I am sure many of us are truly delighted that Miraku, a familiar and beloved name for Japanese fine dining in Penang since it opened its door in 2007, has returned to G Hotel Gurney.
Based on Miraku’s brand new look that includes new teppanyaki counters and a seating capacity of 102 pax, I am confident that this exciting new chapter will bring many more successes. Congratulations to Texchem Resources Berhad on the return of Miraku and we look forward to the many tasteful wonders prepared by your team of executive chefs from Japan.
Thank you.
