Penang International Wedding Expo

It is my pleasure to welcome you to The First Penang International Wedding Expo, also known as PIWE 2018 organised at a cost of RM608,000 funded by the Penang State Government and Penang Global Tourism.

Penang is well-regarded by international travellers and businesses from around the world. We have attractions for tourists, especially couples who are looking for a unique wedding and a honeymoon destination. UNESCO’s recognition of George Town as a World Heritage site has also added to Penang’s many alluring charms.

In a recent accolade, Time Magazine online listed Penang as one of the 10 Amazing Asian Vacations That Won’t Cost a Fortune. Soon-to-be brides and grooms can choose Penang as a wedding destination.

On the same note, CNN also listed Penang as one of the 17 Best Places To Visit in 2017 and on a delicious note, two of Penang’s street food made it into the World Street Food Top 50 list at the World Street Food Congress 2017 and Penang’s Assam Laksa once again takes 7th Place in CNN’s listing of The World’s 50 Most Delicious Foods.

The First Penang International Wedding Expo seeks to promote and encourage the wedding and tourism industry as to be a Top Wedding Destination. I was also informed that PIWE 2018 is the first wedding expo of its kind to offer quality products of bridal houses, hotels & resorts, unique venue rentals, wedding services, wedding planners and food & beverage services from the local bridal services and tourism arena.

I am pleased that exhibitors and buyers alike have joined PIWE 2018 to build individual business networks between the Penang and South East Asian market of top wedding suppliers and hotel chains in the industry. Penang is indeed an ideal location for weddings.

I wish all participating exhibitors and buyers in the wedding industry every success in promoting Penang’s wedding tourism.
