Ladies and Gentlemen

A very good morning to all.

First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to Honda for selecting Tanjong Parliament and its state constituencies as the beneficiary of their free motorcycle inspection and servicing programme.

Honda is no stranger when it comes to collaborating with the local assemblymen service centres in order to carry out Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR). Today, a total of 100 motorcycles from B40 low income households had been selected and will be provided with inspection and servicing for free.

The services offered includes changing of motor oil, cleaning of motor engine, and replacement of faulty parts such as the spark plug, sprocket, and battery. Typically, this complete set of services would cost the owner RM250, bringing the total estimated expenditure for today to almost RM25,000.

It is without doubt that with the constantly increasing cost of living, Honda’s initiative today will benefit the households who are still reeling from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The willingness of Honda to fund todays’ event is consistent with the ❤️PENANG campaign which strives to demonstrate the solidarity and mutual assistance among local communities and groups.

Hence, congratulations to Honda for their initiatives and efforts to continually provide assistance and support to our local community. The same gratitude goes to our Komtar and Pengkalan Kota teams, who are always seeking for new ways to provide for their communities.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Penang State Government always puts the well being and welfare of the public on the forefront. The public has always been the cornerstone whenever we draft any action plan that includes aspects of health, security, welfare, economy and sustainability.

In the same vein and as outlined in the Penang2030 vision, the State Government remains committed to strengthening family units. A stable family household, we believe, is critical in moulding and establishing a strong community support system. Our difference should not be the point of contention but rather be celebrated for its diversity.

As such, the State Government appreciates and welcomes any initiatives that aims to assist the public, particularly the B40 households. On that basis, I would like to encourage the public sector and corporate organizations to implement more CSR programmes as part of our efforts to propel Penang as "A Family-Focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation."

Having said that, I once again congratulate Honda and all involving parties on their accomplishment today. I hope that similar CSRs from Honda will be expanded to other parliament constituencies in the future and benefit even more people.

Thank you.
