When Datuk N Gobalakrishnan took over as the President of the Indian Chamber in the year 2017, he initiated the Corporate Social Responsibility Programme (CSR) in the spirit of Muhibah. This programme was first started on 7th June 2017 during the Holy Month of Ramadhan and grocery items were handed out such as rice, cooking oil, milk tins, sugar, dates, juice and assortment of curry powders worth of RM 70.00 and monetary contribution containing RM 30.00 to 50 poor and deserving Muslim families.
The above programme was then officiated by me and the second Majlis Bantuan Ramadhan 2018 (Corporate Social Responsibility Programme) was again organized on 30th May 2018 during the Holy Month of Ramadhan 2018 and groceries items worth of RM 120.00 were distributed to 65 poor and deserving Muslim families.
This is the 3rd consecutive year programme and the Chamber is handing out grocery items, cooking items, dates, juice, sarongs worth RM 150.00 to 60 poor and needy Muslim Families. In addition to the above, this year we have specially arranged for a Buka Puasa Session with all the recipients of the Bantuan Ramadhan immediately after the handing over ceremony.
I came to understand that the MICCI’s Management Council current term for the fiscal years 2017 – 2019 is ending on 25th May 2019 and New Management Council for the fiscal terms 2019 – 2021 will be elected at their 96th Annual General Meeting scheduled on 25th May 2019.
I would like to convey my congratulations to the President Datuk N Gobalakrishnan and his team for their great support and co-operation with State Government to ensure the success of all activities of the State Government during the term of his office and hope that the same will be reciprocated by the new Management Council which will take over on 25th May 2019.
Finally, I once again thank the Malaysian Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and their members for the effort in their Corporate Social Responsibility Programme.
Thank you.
