Tuan-tuan, Puan-puan dan para peserta.
A very good afternoon to all of you.
Great to see all of you here participating in the Water is Life 2024 colouring contest in conjunction with the opening ceremony of Academic Mentor Program AMeP. Today, we gather here with a shared passion for knowledge, discovery and inspiration.
Education is not just about textbooks and exams; it is about unlocking the potential within each and every one of us especially for our younger generation.
It is about nurturing curiosity, fostering creativity, and empowering individuals to become the architects of their own future and our leaders of tomorrow.
With the initiation of this Academic Mentor Program, poor students will be able to participate in workshops, outdoor learning sessions and study skills presentation, conducted by passionate educators and volunteers. This serves to enhance their learning experience and to stay in touch with modern education.
Ladies & Gentlemen,
I believe with this Academic Mentor Program (AMeP), we will be providing quality education for our needy children in Penang. And it’s for free. This will effectively provide opportunities for our students to bridge the gap of their academic disparity and to pursue their dreams. We had started this program in Tanjong constituency last year 2023 and received favourable feedback from the parents and the students themselves.
I am confident that AMeP will be able to play a pivotal role in shaping our future leaders, innovators, problem solvers of tomorrow and of course, to uplift the livelihood of many people and their families in Penang.
The AMeP, furthermore, I must say that it blends in well with the objectives of the State Government which is to boost our human capital development. As a hub for the technology sector and with a mature ecosystem which provides the pull factors for 300 MNCs and 3000 SMEs, Penang is always in need of more talents. More importantly, this need for talents must never be hindered just because our students lack opportunities due to the economic conditions of their families.
This year, we will be extending this program to the South-West district of Penang, with the focus at the Teluk Kumbar fisherman villages. With the support of The Learning Kingdom Education as one of our kind sponsors, this program will benefit the students of more than 8 primary and secondary schools located in that area.
I hope more organizations will come forward and participate in AMeP by giving your kind support to Penang SEED.
I would like to also take this opportunity to thank Pusat Khidmat Parlimen Tanjong, MPKK Pykett Avenue/Northam Road, MPKK Lebuh Macallum, Persatuan Perpustakaan Awam Pulau Pinang, Sekretariat Sukarelawan Universiti Sains Malaysia, Maypap Sdn Bhd, Alpro Pharmacy and Sunquick Malaysia for making this Water Is Life 2024 Colouring Contest a success.
So, let us embrace the Academic Mentor Program as a catalyst for change, a platform for collaboration, and a source of inspiration.
Thank you.
