Distinguished guests,

Members of the media,

Ladies and gentlemen.

A very good morning to everyone.

It is my pleasure to be here today to inaugurate the opening ceremony of Kadun Perai's Penang2030 Centre. I would like to extend my gratitude and congratulations to ADUN Perai, YB. Prof. Dr. P. Ramasamy, and his service team for successfully establishing the Penang2030 Centre here at Dewan Serbaguna Taman Chai Leng, Perai.

Ladies and gentlemen,

In 2018, the Penang State Government launched the Penang2030 vision, a comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing the quality of life, economy, civic participation, and balanced development to achieve "A Family-Focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation."

The State Government conducted a thorough analysis of its successes and shortcomings in the past and designed detailed strategies to propel Penang to greater heights. Currently, we are in Phase 2 of the Penang2030 execution strategy, which supports the state's Covid-19 recovery plan and accelerates the Penang2030 vision.

The State Government is establishing Penang2030 centres in all 40 constituencies as they are instrumental in bringing the Penang2030 concepts to the grassroots level and enabling the community to understand the vision better. To date, 22 Penang2030 centres have commenced operations in the state.

It is also hope that through the Penang2030 centres, we will be able to encourage greater community participation, particularly among our youth in various initiatives, in line with a crucial theme of the Penang2030 vision, which is to empower people to strengthen civic participation.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I would also like to mention that the State Government is also focused on bringing a balanced development for both the island and Seberang Perai. The state agencies such as the Penang Development Corporation and Invest Penang are implementing strategic plans for the growth of new development areas in Seberang Perai based on the ‘Green and Smart City’ concept.

We can already see that the Batu Kawan industrial area is now a world-renowned E&E (electrical and electronics) technology hub. Also, a noteworthy development is the collaboration between Ideal Property Group and the State Government to create the Penang Technology Park at Bertam, which is in tandem with the state’s initiative to promote tripartite Public-Private and People partnership strategies to enhance Penang’s development.

Nevertheless, the State Government is also mindful of the potential downsides of rapid development, such as traffic congestion and floods. Accordingly, I must thank YB. Prof. Dr. P. Ramasamy for his efforts to handle the woes of flooding in KADUN Perai all these years.

The State Government has undertaken various projects, including pump house upgrades, to battle floods in Perai, and is actively working with the Federal Government on implementing high-impact flood mitigation initiatives in the area. Furthermore, Seberang Perai City Council (MPSP) is also collaborating with Think City to implement projects to rejuvenate Sungai Perai.

I am happy that I was able assist YB. Prof. Dr. P. Ramasamy and the Seberang Perai City Council in setting up the Eco-Peacock Park in Taman Kimsar. It delights me that YB. Prof. Dr. P. Ramasamy and his team have a variety of other initiatives in plan to develop more green tourism attractions in the Sungai Perai area, which will increase Perai's liveability index.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am confident that the Penang2030 vision is going to transform Seberang Perai into an international city and popular tourism destination for investors, locals, and tourists. As such, I fervently hope that the Kadun Perai Penang2030 Centre will inspire the Perai community to work hand in hand with the State Government in achieving the Penang2030 vision.

In the same vein, I am pleased to see that the Penang2030 centre has start off on the right foot by organizing today’s blood donation campaign in collaboration with various organizations. There are also additional activities, such as free health consultations, dengue awareness programme, a DIY solar car workshop, and children's colouring contest.

Taking this opportunity, I would like to thank the Penang2030 centre team, and everyone involved for your dedication and efforts in making today’s programme a success. As we work to build a brighter future for Penang and its people, I look forward to many more beneficial events and programmes as such in the times to come.

With that, I hereby with great pleasure, officially launch the Kadun Perai Penang2030 Center and Blood Donation Campaign.

Thank you.
