A very good morning to all of you on this 3rd day of the Chinese New Year.
First and foremost, allow me to express my sincere appreciation for this opportunity to be the Guest of Honour to officiate the flag-off ceremony of the inaugural 1st Avenue Penang Chinese New Year Run (新春趴趴走) 2023.
The objective of this Chinese New Year Run is to encourage the general public to adopt a healthy lifestyle while creating meaningful connection with family and friends particularly in the post pandemic period. At the same time, this event also gives everyone here the opportunity to enjoy what our beautiful and historic UNESCO George Town World Heritage Site has to offer.
I would like to congratulate 1st Avenue Penang for reaching more than 2,000 participants from all over Malaysia including Sabah and Sarawak. This Chinese New Year Run had also received participation from other countries such as China, Japan, India, France, United Kingdom, Vietnam and many more.
Meanwhile, in the event today, there are many exciting performances which includes Lion Dance Performance, War Drum, God of Prosperity Meet & Greet, Dancing and Singing Performance.
I was told that 1st Avenue Penang had also invited 4 talented local singers from Penang who are winners of National and International singing competition to add merriment to the event.
Also lined up in the programme today is the lucky draw event with a total of RM10,000 worth of attractive prizes included Honda Wave Alpha 110, Xiao Mi 55-inch Smart TV, Samsung Smart Phone and many more for our participants.
Lastly, I would like to wish all runners all the best and do enjoy the 6km route with your friends and family.
Gong Xi Fa Cai, Happy Chinese New Year and Happy Holiday to all of you.
